That’s right, 20 years and five Olympics. At 52, Anne Abernathy makes history as the
oldest woman to ever compete in the Winter Olympics. That’s why she’s known as
“Grandma Luge.”
But this year has been hard for Anne. The run up to the games this time have been
particularly difficult. A crash earlier this season nearly ended Anne’s Olympic journey
early. Now her sled is in the shop for repairs and time on the runs is getting harder
to come by. The real challenge, though, has been and continues to be money.
Anne’s officially a citizen of the U.S. Virgin Islands (her dad was in the military).
For this Olympics, Anne IS the U.S. Virgin Islands Olympic Team. Unlike US athletes,
Anne receives virtually no funding from her country, and for these 20 years, has had to
make “funding” as important as training.
Now, with her hard-fought but partial sponsor contributions exhausted, with most of her
savings depleted, credit cards maxed out and every other asset she has pledged, Grandma
Luge is only months away from the Olympics' opening ceremonies. But those are months
she can’t afford.
And that’s why I’m writing to you today.

We’ve been helping Anne from time to time, but haven’t yet identified a client to step
up and benefit from a six-month contract with an endorser/spokesperson of Anne’s
caliber. That’s right, for a price of only $35,000, a client, OR an agency that wants to
practice what it preaches, can engage Anne from now through June of 2006.
There are a few conditions on the sponsorship (there always are when you deal with
the International Olympic Committee), but the essence of the opportunity is that you
or your agency could be the sole sponsor - not only of an Olympic athlete, but an
entire Olympic Team, and virtually guaranteed to bask in the media attention
Grandma has always garnered - for just $35,000. These links will give you a
glimpse of what Anne is all about:
