Our best clients are those who work with us as partners. Not
surprisingly, they're also the most successful and the happiest. They
don't treat us like "vendors" or "suppliers" but rather as co-workers.
We work together as members of one team so it's never a question of
"us" vs. "them."
Creative account people? Strategic creative people? That's what happens
when everybody on the team is always "in the loop". Whether we're
planning advertising or a PR event to launch a new product, every
member of the team is involved in the process--from account planner to
creative team to media planner.
As with any good relationship, the client-agency relationship is one
founded on good communication. As stewards of the brand, we see our
function as not just helping to develop the marketing plans, but making
sure both client and team stays focused and on-track in following the
plan.
How do we do that? Our Procedures Manual lays out for a client how the
work gets done and includes a team organizational chart, timelines, and
sample meeting reports, estimates and production schedules. So from the
get-go, client and agency are, literally, on the same page. Simple, but
brilliant.
