Cultural Profile for Agency 03-1014996-939
Everywhere you look, you'll find cues that make our culture and
us what we are. We are the 24th largest agency in the country, yet we
work outside the big-city advertising meccas, where people can easily
and frequently switch jobs, infuse politics and undermine codependency,
collaboration and teamwork. We have 518 people, yet use an honor pay
system in our cafeteria. It’s a constant reminder that we trust our
people, not only with the five-dollar lunch tab, but with our clients’
businesses and each other’s careers. We don’t have a policy manual per
se. Instead, we have institutionalized the practice of rights and
responsibilities, a process by which everyone gets coached into
intuitively understanding what is expected and the freedom they have in
realizing expectations. Is it a coincidence that we are one of the most
productive and efficient agencies in the business?
In 1987, our building in Massachusetts burned to the ground. We lost
everything; every file, every record, every piece of furniture. The
press informed us that no agency had ever survived such a catastrophe.
Yet we never lost a client, an employee, missed an airdate or a payment
to the media or a supplier. The following year we grew by 74%.
People who come to work here don’t just want to be in advertising;
they want to be in the business with us. They believe in who we are,
what we stand for and where we’re going. They care deeply about the
company and how it succeeds through the success of its clients. And
that is what you can expect from all of us should we become partners.
